Where can we go for supplies?

ree

With the loss of Joann Fabrics (flashbacks to when Hancock Fabrics closed down), we need new sources to acquire supplies. So, with the help of others and some digging on my own, we have a list. It will be updated as we find good links and recommendations. With no further ado, here's a list for fabric and yarn, with both online and local ideas for you.

Online Fabric Stores

Herrshner's is a good source for yarn, and they have shipping discounts on a regular basis. I've been seeing a ton of fabric websites, and will let you know what I find.

DIY Snuffle Ball for Dogs (or Cats)

I looked at a store-bought snuffle ball and realized that it was easy to make! These instructions were prepared for an office-wide team building. I did some advance prep with a bunch of remnants I had (cut and matched up fleece strips), and then my team-mates made more than a hundred of these for a rescue fundraiser in just a few hours. If you have remnants left over from blanket-making, make a snuffle ball and included it with your blanket mailing! (Ignore the dog hairs in the pic -- this one was appropriated by my Pom Timmy!)

Making a no-sew blanket

Hi - I made a short video about how I make no-sew blankets with a nice finished edge that lays flat. I use anywhere from a yard (small dog/cat) to a yard and a half (large dog). JoAnn's usually has fleece remnants on discount that work well!

Printable Labels of Love

For your convenience, here is a standard 8.5" x 11" document that is ready to be printed. You can choose to print on regular paper or on card stock. Cut out the individual Labels and use as is, or attach to decorative colored cardstock/paper. Helpful hint: print out on peel and stick labels. Cut to size and then apply to decorative card stock. Use a hole punch and then tie to your adoption blanket with ribbon or yarn. Pretty! Sign your name to the Label to make it even more personalized. Have an idea for another style and need help making it? Just say the word. Post it to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/groups/artisanswithamission

Snuggle Sack

What is a snuggle sack? Glad you asked! If you or someone you know has a dachshund then you know they just LOVE to burrow into blankets. A snuggle sack is exactly what it sounds like. It's a small sack that they can safely burrow into and easily get back out. What a great idea!

Please note that there is no actual physical pattern since this is made from rectangular cuts of fabric sewn together. All you need is fabric and a way to measure to make your own pattern.
