Where can we go for supplies?

ree

With the loss of Joann Fabrics (flashbacks to when Hancock Fabrics closed down), we need new sources to acquire supplies. So, with the help of others and some digging on my own, we have a list. It will be updated as we find good links and recommendations. With no further ado, here's a list for fabric and yarn, with both online and local ideas for you.

Herrshner's is a good source for yarn, and they have shipping discounts on a regular basis. I've been seeing a ton of fabric websites, and will let you know what I find.

The Way It Was versus The Way It Is

As of this writing, in 2023, much has changed for our group yet much is still the same. We have had the luxury of a pledging website, which was nice. It automated so much for us, allowing people to log in, pledge, and have everything automated. We no longer have the website. The financial portion, plus the work behind the scenes made it unsustainable. Starting in 2023 we no longer have pledge counters on the website and in September 2023 the website in its entirety will be gone. That's okay. We have a group of wonderful people who congregate on Facebook. We started there and we will continue there. We started pledging there, and we have gone back to pledging there again. We are a family and the one thing that never changes is that we are impacting the lives of rescue animals, one blanket at a time.

How it all started

ree

In June of 2014 Patrick Desjardins went to fix a broken hinge on a close family friend's cedar chest, Julie. She had often said that she wanted to do something to help rescue dogs and Patrick realized this just might be the answer to her wish. At that time Patrick was spending much of his free time helping to rescue puppy mill dogs. Julie was supportive and interested in helping however she could, but physical limitations prevented her from doing the same things he was doing. He saw all that yarn and half-finished projects and an idea was born. Together they became a team. She crocheted blankets and he gave them to the rescue dogs. When the rescue posted a photo of her blankets on Facebook, other people thought, I can do that too. That was the beginning of Wrapped in Love: artisans with a mission.

July 4, 2014 marks…
