Dog & Cat Toys

I looked at a store-bought snuffle ball and realized that it was easy to make! These instructions were prepared for an office-wide team building. I did some advance prep with a bunch of remnants I had (cut and matched up fleece strips), and then my team-mates made more than a hundred of these for a rescue fundraiser in just a few hours. If you have remnants left over from blanket-making, make a snuffle ball and included it with your blanket mailing! (Ignore the dog hairs in the pic -- this one was appropriated by my Pom Timmy!)

With or without catnip, toys are as important for cats as they are for dogs. Playful interaction provides enrichment and will make kitty a happy family member.

One of our favorites is reusing prescription medicine bottles. (Just be sure to wash your bottles first.) Then, add a dry bean or two inside. Put the lid back on and cover with fleece fabric. If you crochet or knit, you can also get creative with covering the bottle and making it really cute. Fleece fabric is great for those who don't sew or work with yarn. Wrap it around a few times, knot at the top, knot at the bottom, and then cut fringe into the top and bottom. Cats love these toys! Click the links for more toy ideas.
